Types of Therapy

Internal Family Systems, or IFS, is a therapeutic approach that helps individuals understand and heal their inner selves. In the same way the Body of Christ is made up of individual Christians, IFS recognizes that our minds are made up of different aspects, each with its own thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. These sub personalities can sometimes conflict with each other, causing emotional distress and negative behaviors.

Paul, in Romans 7:15, says it well – “I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.” This point is also illustrated in James 4:1. “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?”

IFS aims to create harmony among these parts by fostering self-awareness and self-compassion.

Just as Christ came to bring healing to his people in the world, exploring and addressing the needs of the internal world through IFS can help individuals achieve personal growth, emotional healing, and improved relationships with others.
