"All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3:16

Dr. Kenneth Beers

Macon/Athens, Ga

My greatest joy in counseling is to see people set free and begin living the abundant life that Christ died to give us. Today, more than ever, marriages and families are under attack and it is my desire to equip individuals, couples, and families with tools that provide emotional and spiritual growth that will lead to lasting results.

This journey called life, that each of us is experiencing, is so often filled with pain, tragedy, and great sorrow. As a result people are often dealing with unwanted affects within their life. As a Christian Counselor, it is my deepest desire to extend the heart and love of Jesus Christ, to those who are suffering during these times of difficulty. In therapy it’s important to deal with the whole man, his mind, his will, and his emotions. I have found that my own life experiences have been some of Gods greatest teaching, preparing me to minister to those that are hurting. In addition to clinical work in the office, I have also partnered with churches, and local schools to provide ministry and counsel to those within their care.

It was my joy to serve as a pastor for 39 years in a transitional setting. I’ve helped families bury children, held addicts while they detox, talked various people into handing over the gun in their hand during a time of desperation, helped parents through a dark night waiting to hear from their child who has disappeared, welcomed runaways into my home in the middle of the night. I’ve seen people delivered from addiction, couples realize their marriage was worth fighting for choosing to make it great, kids walk into their God given calling for life and parents stand back on their feet after grieving from a devastating loss. There is no other way to explain it but that God was at work and allowed me to help love people into wholeness. I am excited to continue my ministry with NorthPoint Christian Ministries.

In life we face trials of many kinds (James 1) and my desire as a Christian Counselor is to come alongside those who are broken and hurting and point them to the Gospel. For God promises to give us everything we need for life and godliness during the many trials we face through the knowledge of him (1 Peter 1:3) and promises to restore our health and heal our wounds. (Jeremiah 30:17). I am humbled that God has called me to serve his body through the ministry of counseling and desire above all else to glorify and make much of Him.

I am committed to providing counsel that is rooted in the truth of God’s Word. My desire as a counselor is to walk with my clients, and help them better understand their story in the light of God’s redemptive story. We all encounter wounds, hardships, and scars in life, that often leave us feeling hurt and alone. I long for all people to receive God’s comfort and grow in confidence of His love, presence, and care for them. I have personally experienced the transforming power of God’s love in my own life, and I know He can do the same for you!

When we go through difficult seasons of life, sometimes we lose perspective on who God is and who He created us to be. As a Christian counselor, I desire to come along beside those who are hurting, struggling, and suffering and reconnect them to God’s perspective. One of my “life verses” reflects this: “Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”( I Thessalonians 5:11). Through Temperament Therapy, Christian counseling, and God’s word, this can be accomplished.

I personally believe that everyone can benefit from counseling. Life is hard. The Christian journey is not always easy, especially if you feel alone. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast your anxiety on Him for He cares for you.” Not only will individuals be sharing with me, but we will lift all of our conversations to the Lord. Together, we will discover wisdom for how to live life in a broken world from the wisest person who ever lived, Christ. It is my hope to walk alongside those who are hurting and help them live a more fulfilled life in Christ.
