Many families will struggle from time to time with raising healthy well adjusted children. Children who have experienced divorce, and blended families will benefit greatly from professional counseling. Family counseling has shown to produce better relationships and understanding within a family system. The family will then be able to utilize their strengths, embracing healthy and encouraging methods instead of ineffective patterns of thinking and interacting. Additionally, we enable family members to build healthy bonds with one another, establish effective boundaries, improve trust, and provide a safe, nurturing environment.
Family counseling (therapy) is similar to individual therapy, except there are more participants. It is meant to help facilitate desired change with how the family members relate and communicate. Our therapists utilize Temperament to better understand each family member and family systems theory, meaning that the family is viewed as a collective unit, rather than just the sum of its individual members. Problems are treated by changing the way the system works, rather than by trying to “fix” a specific member.
